Weight loss occurs when you consistently consume fewer calories than you expend in a day
A pound of fat is roughly equivalent to 3500 calories. For this reason it is important to take into consideration our total calorie Consumption on a weekly and monthly basis. In order for weight loss to occur our calorie Consumption typically needs to be below our recommend daily amount.
For a male, general guidelines dictate this figure to be roughly 2,500 calories and for a female 2000 calories.
However add exercise to your routine and you can still lose weight while in a calorie maintenance or even a slight surplus depending on how intensely you workout and how many calories you burn during your workouts.
For example if you are a female and consume 2200 calories a day but burn 500calories with an intense workout this still leaves you In a 300 Calorie deficit.
Overall there is no quick fix to weight loss. It is journey that takes time and consistency. A slight calorie deficit in our diets and good exercise routine will help us with our weight loss goals. It is all about finding the correct balance in our exercise routines and eating habits.
